What is Originle?
Originle is a daily geography guessing game built around a real person’s story. Instead of identifying a flag or country outline, you watch video clues and work out the country the guest represents through their roots and culture.
The answer is not necessarily where the guest lives now. Listen to the story as a whole: an accent or a single familiar detail may suggest a possibility, but it does not settle the answer.
How to play Originle
- Meet the guest. Watch the first video and consider which countries fit the information you have.
- Reveal clues when needed. There are up to eight clues, becoming more revealing as you progress. You can guess before opening them all.
- Choose a country. You have three guesses. Use the globe to keep notes and shortlist possibilities.
- Balance clues and guesses. More clues make the answer easier to narrow down, but reduce the available points. A wrong guess also reduces your score.
Daily guests and scoring
A new person each day
The game announces a new guest at midnight Eastern. Its archive links to earlier guests when you want to explore past editions.
Clues have a cost
The scoring scale is out of 10,000. Later clue reveals cost progressively more, and a wrong guess deducts 30% of your remaining points. The game shows the cost before you reveal a clue.
Is Originle like Chainle?
Both ask you to connect clues and return for a daily challenge. Chainle works with word connections; Originle uses people, video and cultural context to build a geography puzzle. Choose Originle when you want to reason about a country through someone’s story.

Originle: common questions
How many guesses do I get?
You have three country guesses. The round ends when you solve it, miss all three or give up.
Do I need to reveal every clue?
No. You can guess after the first video, or reveal more of the eight clues if you need help. Each additional clue reduces the points available.
Am I guessing where the guest lives?
Guess the country the guest represents through their roots and culture. This can differ from their current home, especially for guests from diaspora communities.
Where can I play Originle?
The play button opens originle.io. This Chainle page introduces that video-based game; other websites with similar names may have different rules.
