    How to play Poople Unlimited

Turn a four-letter starting word into POOP. Change exactly one letter per move, keep the other letters in place, and make a valid word every time. There is no guess limit or timer.

    01

    Change one letter

Type your next word or use the on-screen keyboard. Rearranging letters or changing two at once is not a valid move.

    02

    Find a shorter route

The shortest count is the minimum number of moves from your starting word in this version’s dictionary. Can you match it?

    03

    Go again

Reach POOP, copy your result, or choose New puzzle. Each start is checked for a valid route to the goal.

    COLD → HOLD → HOOD → HOOP → POOP

A real four-move shortest path in this version’s dictionary. Each step changes exactly one letter.

A bonus letter, one extra challenge

The gold key marks this puzzle’s bonus letter. Introduce it by changing one letter in a valid word to earn one star. Just tapping the key does not count, and keeping a letter that was already in your previous word does not count either.

You can collect only one star per puzzle. The bonus is optional: it does not remove moves or change the shortest count. Every new puzzle has a bonus that can be collected on at least one shortest route; P and O are never bonus letters. Other equally short routes may skip it.

For example, in COLD → HOLD, H is newly introduced. If H is the gold key, that valid move earns your star. Undoing the collecting move removes the star until your route includes a qualifying move again. Your bonus letter and accepted route stay saved when you refresh.

Your result shows Bonus ★ when collected, or Bonus not collected if you finish without it. Viewing a solution is marked separately.

A little help finding your next move

    Work backward from the goal

POOL, LOOP, and COOP are one letter away from POOP. Try to connect your current word to one of these neighbours.

    Try a different branch

If a route stalls, undo your last move and test another letter. A word that shares more letters with POOP is not always on the shortest route.

Use a solution when you need it

Show shortest path reveals a minimum-length route from the starting word that can collect this puzzle’s bonus. It may differ from the path you chose. Your shared result notes when you have viewed a solution.

    Good to know

How is this different from daily Poople?

This is an independent unlimited practice version on Chainle. It uses its own dictionary and random starting words, so its accepted words and shortest paths can differ from other Poople sites. It does not provide the original daily puzzle or affect its streak.

    Are all puzzles solvable?

Yes. Starts are chosen from the connected word graph leading to POOP. This version currently has a curated set of eligible starting words. Each eligible start has a bonus letter available on a shortest route. Starts may repeat; New puzzle avoids the immediately previous start.

    Why was my word rejected?

Use four English letters, change exactly one letter, and choose a word in this version’s curated dictionary. Proper names and many rare words are excluded. A word already in your current route cannot be used again; undo moves to explore another branch.

    Is my progress saved?

Your current route is saved in this browser when storage is available. Refresh to continue it. New puzzle replaces that route. Records do not sync across devices, and no login is needed.

Does a longer path mean I failed?

No. Any valid route to POOP completes the puzzle. The shortest count is a challenge to try next time, rather than a limit on your moves.
