What Is Feetle?
Feetle is a word ladder game with a fixed destination: FEET. Each puzzle begins with a four-letter word. Your task is to reach the target by changing exactly one letter at a time, making a valid word at every step.
The goal is to find an efficient route, rather than guess a hidden answer. Different ladders can reach the same destination, and more than one shortest route may exist.
This Chainle edition offers a shared daily puzzle and unlimited practice. It uses its own word list and starting words, so its puzzles and shortest routes may differ from the original game at feetle.fun.
Looking for the game where you identify a champion from a picture of their feet? That is a separate game with the same name. This Feetle is the word ladder game.
How to Play Feetle
1. Choose your starting challenge
Select Daily for this edition’s shared starting word, or Unlimited for extra practice. Your destination is always FEET.
The shortest possible move count appears above the ladder. Use it as a target while you explore.
2. Change exactly one letter
Enter a four-letter word that differs from your current word in one position.
You can replace a letter, but you cannot add letters, remove letters, or rearrange them. Every entry must belong to this edition’s word list.
3. Build your route
Keep connecting words until you reach FEET. If a branch is not working, use Undo step to return to the previous word and try a different move.
Need a nudge? Show next-step hint reveals a word on a shortest route from your current position. It does not submit the word for you, and the hint is recorded in your result.
4. Compare and share
Once you reach FEET, compare your move count with the shortest route from your starting word.
You can reveal one shortest route or copy a result made of colored squares. The copied grid shows which letter position changed on each move without revealing the words.
A Feetle Ladder Example
SEED → FEED: replace S with F.
FEED → FEET: replace D with T.
That is two moves. The starting word is not counted as a move.
Every step keeps four letters, changes exactly one position, and forms a word in this edition’s list. Your puzzle may need a longer route, and there may be several ways to finish.
Daily Feetle or Unlimited Practice?
Daily mode
Play the same starting word as everyone else using this Chainle edition for that UTC date.
A new daily puzzle becomes available at midnight UTC. If you already have a puzzle open, it stays in place until you select Daily again or reload the page.
Your progress is saved for that daily edition in this browser when storage is available.
Unlimited mode
Keep practising after your daily puzzle. Choose New word to start another ladder whenever you want.
Unlimited draws from a finite collection of starting words, so a word can appear again. Starting a new unlimited puzzle replaces your saved unlimited ladder.
Daily and unlimited progress are stored separately.
Understanding Your Feetle Result
Moves
Each accepted word after the starting word adds one move. Invalid entries do not count. Undo removes the last step from your current ladder.
Shortest route
This is the fewest moves needed to reach FEET from your starting word using this edition’s word list.
It is not based on every word in the English language. A different game or dictionary may allow a different route.
Hints used
Each time you request a next-step hint, it is counted. Undoing a move does not remove hints you have already requested.
A hint gives you a shortest next step from your current word. It does not guarantee that your earlier moves were part of a shortest route from the start.
Your share grid
Each row represents one move. The green square marks the letter position that changed; the other three squares mark positions that stayed the same.
Your copied result includes moves, shortest-route length, and hints used. It does not include your starting word or the words in your ladder.
Tips for a Shorter Feetle Ladder
Work backward from FEET
Think about words one move from the target. FEED, FEEL, BEET, and MEET can be useful final connections.
Then look for a way to connect your current word to one of them.
Explore a different vowel
If your current word has few useful neighbors, try changing a vowel. It can open a new group of words and give your ladder another direction.
Allow a useful detour
A word does not have to look more like FEET to be a good move. Some routes need a temporary change before you can approach the target.
Matching more target letters is not always the same as getting closer.
Use Undo to test a branch
Try an idea, inspect your options, and step back if it leads nowhere useful. A shorter ladder often comes from removing an unnecessary turn.
Feetle FAQ
Is Feetle free to play?
Yes. This Chainle edition offers daily and unlimited word ladders free in your browser, with no account required.
Is this the original Feetle?
No. This is an independent Chainle edition with its own word list and puzzles. It is not affiliated with the original Feetle.
Visit feetle.fun to play the original word ladder game.
Is this the Feetle where you guess champions?
No. That is a different game with the same name. Here, you change letters in four-letter words until you reach FEET.
Can I play Feetle Unlimited?
Yes. Select Unlimited to practise, then use New word whenever you want another starting word.
Starting words can repeat because the game uses a finite word list.
Why was my word rejected?
An entry must:
- Contain exactly four letters.
- Belong to this edition’s word list.
- Differ from your current word in exactly one position.
- Not already appear in your current ladder.
The word list does not include every English word. A rejected entry does not add a move.
Is there only one correct route?
No. Several valid ladders may reach FEET, and some starting words have multiple shortest routes.
The result screen shows one shortest route from this edition’s word list.
Where can I see today’s Feetle solution?
Complete the daily ladder, then choose See one shortest route.
That solution belongs to the Chainle edition. It may not match the daily puzzle or answer on another Feetle website.
When does the daily puzzle change?
At midnight UTC. Select Daily again or reload to open the new edition if you have kept the page open across the reset.
Can I replay previous daily puzzles?
There is no date-selection archive in this edition. For additional puzzles, choose Unlimited.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tap the word input, type with your phone keyboard, and choose Add step. You can also use the keyboard’s submit action.
Will my progress be saved?
Your daily progress and latest unlimited ladder are saved in this browser when storage is available.
They do not sync across devices. Clearing site data or using a different browser can remove access to saved progress.
